Hi, I am Dr Barbara Paterson the owner and founder of Namib Dog Training .

I have not only raised my own puppies, but over the last couple of years I have coached many puppy parents.
I understand how important it is to get it right from the beginning.

I know the frustration faced by pet parents who waited until their dog hits adolescence before reaching out for help and now their dog is unable to settle at home or lunging and barking at other dogs.

With management and training most of the common puppy issues can be resolved — but how much easier and enjoyable would it have been, if they'd developed good habits from the start. If they prevented the unwanted behaviours right from the beginning.

I want every new puppy parent to be prepared for the challenges and avoid the problems from the start. I want every family to have the dog of their dreams.

When my puppy Snoopy was only two months old I started the eight week puppy class with Barbara. With easy to follow exercises Snoopy and I got off on the right foot. Under Barbara’s watchful eyes (yes, even though it was via Zoom!) I learned how to encourage and reward his good behavior – and it did not take long and Snoopy knew what is expected from him. I learned to give clear commands (without talking much) and ensure that Snoopy always had fun while training. I can only recommend the puppy classes with Barbara for a fun way to learn how to get the best out of you and your puppy. With access to many resources I can always go back and look or read up in case I forgot something or need some new ideas to keep Snoopy entertained and happy. Happy training!
